How To Be On Track To Achieve Success

Success is more than economic gains, titles, and degrees. It isn’t as difficult as you think to achieve. Because every single day we do have our little successes in the things we do. Hence, we should embrace the successes in our lives, even though they may be really small.

To be on track to achieve success, you need to look closely at your beliefs, values, and principles aside from your economic situation, professional qualifications and even ethnicity. Moreover, you also need to reflect on your experiences to give you insights on your strengths and weaknesses.

Ask yourself, “Who do you want to be?”

You need to know who you want to be in order to know what are the things you want to change about yourself in order to be closer to who you want to be. The things you need to change might be attitudes, habits, or points of view. They might not be changed overnight but the most important thing is that you recognise what needs to be changed and start working on it.

You also need to be clear of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that you have that will help you in attaining your vision. This is because there is a need for you to assess these knowledge, skills, and attitudes that you have at present to help you to make changes to your attitudes etc. or to help you plans the steps to achieve your success.

It is good to always plan your route to success with goals. Goal-setting is a very important aspect in determining your success. Calvin and I can attest to that. Goal setting keeps you focused. They need to be S.M.A.R.T. – specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time bound. You need to sit down and think about your goals and set them according to the S.M.A.R.T. qualities. With the S.M.A.R.T. goals, you can be sure that you are going to be on track in achieving the success you desire.

But before all that, you really need to take the big step of identifying who you want to be and then slowly think about how you are going to be the person whom you want to be.

The Key To Success is Named Action

My favourite food is French Fries or actually, anything to do with potatoes. I love potato soup, potato chips, potato wedges, baked potato, grilled potato, mashed potato, fried potato etc. etc. and well, french fries is my weakness and a disaster to my diet.

So anyway, I’ve always talked to Calvin about random business ideas that I have especially in the F&B industry. And one of them which I mentioned to him some time back included opening a french fries stand that sells pipin’ hot fries at affordable costs and the unique selling point of the stall would be to provide french fries drenched in different types of sauces. I even thought of some – curry, salsa, 4 cheeses, sour cream and onions etc. I told him how I’d want to package it. It’d be like a hotdog stand and fries will be served in cones in bright colours.

I described it with such visualization that I even felt that I’d really want to do it. Calvin knew that’s a cool concept but felt that it might not be as practical as it sounded. But oh well, for me that was just an idea.

But recently, this idea became reality. Not that I set up such a stall, but someone else did. Someone else took the initiative and action to bring this idea to reality! Check it out here! This just goes to show that many people have similar ideas and plans in their lives but some people take action while some don’t. Now, I fully understood every single element of the importance of taking action.

Success is not served on a platter. You may dream and have many ideas that you wish will come true however, if you didn’t take action, your ideas and dreams will not even have the chance to be turned into reality. And success in your life won’t even take place.

Have A Positive Attitude!

Sometimes, circumstances can influence your attitude towards your predicament or situation and you wonder, how a person who is normally optimistic or has a positive attitude, can suddenly turn negative. Well, our attitude is the way of looking at the world. There are definitely situational factors that influence our attitudes, behaviour and thoughts. But it’s always important to maintain a positive attitude despite being faced with challenges or situations that just cause you to just be flooded with negative thoughts.

Now, just listen to your thoughts. What thoughts fill your head? Are they positive, or negative?

Well, your thoughts are very powerful because they can affect your attitude! Which in turn, can affect your appearance, your physical well being and your behaviour. Last but not least, it can also affect people around you. Think about the people you hang out with. Are they people with positive or negative attitudes?

I’m sure you feel more relaxed and happy when around people with positive attitude. That’s because Positive Thoughts have a filling effect and are motivating. So people with  positive thoughts are usually energized by this type of attitude. And because they have such a positive attitude, they attract people to them. They attract the good things to them.

Negative thoughts on the other hand have a sapping effect on people. Aside from making you look gloomy and sad, negative thoughts can turn a a joyous occasion into a depressing one. And sad to say, people are repelled from those with negative attitude. If you choose to focus on the negative things in the world, your negative attitude will be reflected in every aspect of your life.

Seriously speaking, you have much to gain from a very positive attitude. A positive attitude promotes better health, encourages better socialising with people and you will be able to handle stress and problems better because you are optimistic that things will get better or instead of harping on what you can’t do, you might be searching for solutions. Problems also become something you can overcome.

A positive attitude starts with a healthy outlook of life and self. You need to love the way you are and be satisfied and  confident. Moreover, others around you need to be functioning in the same manner as you are, in order for you to get support. feel the same way. If you want a healthier outlook in life, you need to think happy thoughts, and you have to hear positive things as well.
