I realised that I stopped updated this blog of mine in Mid Oct.. and then, throughout Nov, I didn’t do anything till the recent 2 days. But I had a fantastic time in November and it’d be a pity to not fill you in on them. 😛
Part of November was spent in Sunny Mauritius and it was a fantastic 10 day trip into the African continent. A pity that we couldn’t make a trip down to Cape Town (which is only a 4 hours flight in from Mauritius) because of the expensive flight tickets. You would think that the tickets to a neighbouring country will be cheaper but YOU ARE SO WRONG.
A flight from Mauritius into South Africa is USD 900!!! PER PERSON!!! Oh gosh, that’s equivalent to my flight into Korea or Japan! Oh well, we’ll give it a miss this time round… maybe the next time we’ll head down there.. Hopefully in 2010 for the World Cup!!!
After we were back, it was straight down into work already because we had loads of fun holidaying that we missed out a lot of work… Calvin as usual, was back to his workaholic self! As for me, I was busy planning his birthday celebration!!!
His birthday was on the 20th of November… and we celebrated it at the Zoo! Morning breakfast with Wildlife was certainly an eye-opener for the both of us who haven’t been to the zoo in agesssss… 😛 Calvin enjoyed himself with the orang utans i bet!
I’ll be sure to post up photos from his birthday celebration soon!
Then there was the Smart Seminar which we sorta crashed… totally unplanned and unexpected. We weren’t planning to go for it because well, our saturdays were supposed to be ‘work-free’. LOL! But Edmund Loh was gonna be there and Calvin thought it would be a good chance to meet up with the other marketers.
We met a couple of marketers like Ewen Chia, Stuart Tan and Kloudiia (Stuart’s wife!), Simon Leung, Anik Singal, Edmund Loh (of course)… Personally, it was really great to see internet marketers in person because most of the time, communication is done online and not face-to-face. And it was even greater to see that they recognised and knew Calvin (Especially when IM Buzz Creators have been making waves in the IM world)…
We brought Edmund around together with Harold and brought him to places like Mount Faber, Lau Par Sat for dinner.. You can check out his blog post here.
But here are a couple of the photos I took of them:
Frankly, this is a great time to tell you how proud I am of my darling…
In August 2006, Calvin shared with me what he had researched on Internet Marketing while I was away in Germany. To tell you the truth, I was thinking “what in the world!” and basically, I really couldn’t swallow much of what he was telling me…
In November 2006, after our exams, Calvin made me sit and read IMC and after reading, we came up with our first ebook product, 7 Ways To Make Money Online (which is undergoing a revamp now) …
In early 2007, Calvin and I set up a booth in NUS’ bazaar at Science Faculty selling our ebook and trying to get people interested in Internet Marketing. That was where we met a great friend, Munir.
We also ran our first Internet Marketing workshop in NUS and got to know several buddies like Ivan and Desmond. And that was when we set up IMovators LLP in June 2007. Then, together with Munir (who’s a programming genius), Calvin and I spent our holidays setting up Kanggie.com (which is currently down due to a programming problem but will be up as soon as possible).
It was around that point of time when Calvin got to know Jonathan… who is now his buddy, partner of IM Buzz Creators and a really great friend of ours…
Things started to take tremendous leaps and bounds after that…
Working with the 2 of them and just supporting them both has been an eye opener for me. They have really worked very very hard to get to where they are today. (ME TOO ACTUALLY :P) Hahaha.. And basically, don’t ever think that Internet Marketing is a get-rich-quick scheme.. it’s in fact, sheer hard work, determination and innovation.
Wait a minute… i forgot someone even greater… God.
It was all the work of God. Calvin, Jonathan & I all know that without God, this would have been impossible. And it was by God’s grace and love, that we have got to where we are today or at least where they have got to with IM Buzz Creators today. 😛
I would probably have gotten a job after graduation and worked 9 to 5 every day. Met up with Calvin for 2 hours after work for dinner. Went home and slept. And repeat the cycle the next day.
Now, I’m not trying to seem proud of what we have accomplished. But just that, 3 years ago, I never thought I would be the way I am now. But I’m glad that I did. 🙂 And I know that keeping my faith in God and His great plans will take me further than what my degree and my own capabilities can bring me.
And certainly, I’m glad that Calvin throughout this 2 years has kept believing in Him to lead the way for our business, our relationship and our dreams and endeavours.
In closing, for those of you who have dreams… don’t give up on them. Work on them with faith and in faith.
For those of you who are still lost, search for paths and open doors. Don’t close doors too quickly and easily because you might never know where that path can bring you to.
The lesson I’ve learnt from these past 2 years:
Everyday is a choice.
A choice to be merry or to be sad.
A choice to hesitate or to move forward.
A choice to wish or to regret.
So, what is your choice today?
Well, remember to make it a GOOD one. 🙂
