This week is really a week of celebrations! After Valentines’ Day, we are celebrating the Lunar New Year or Chinese New Year! But it is going to be a rather low-key celebration for my family. Because we’re actually in the mourning period of my grandma’s passing. And it’s the first time in my whole life that I’m going to celebrate the occasion without her.
But nonetheless, traditions will still take place such as the reunion dinner, where all family members gather together to have a good meal. This year’s sooo much quieter. Just me, my dad and my mum.
Long gone are those days where my entire family of 15 people gathered together at a table – chit-chatting, eating and just feeding each other with the huge variety of food on the table.
But well, it doesn’t have to be all sad and dreary. Calvin and I went down to Chinatown on the eve of Chinese New Year to visit!
The streets of Chinatown! The place was nicely decorated to suit the festival!
The both of us, took shots from the decors of Chinatown Point! Don’t we look cute?
The streets are still full of people doing last minute shopping. We managed to get goodies at a really good price!!!
Even though this year’s Chinese New Year is going to spent without both of my grandparents for the first time, it was nice to spend it with Calvin’s grandparents and family.
They showed me all that I thought I had lost. They made me feel a part of them, even though I was just a visitor. Their hospitality, just made me feel sooo welcome during this joyous occasion. 🙂 I really enjoyed myself a lot with a family that made me feel sooo comfortable.
Well, i hope everyone enjoyed their Chinese New Year holiday!
Cheers!
