How To Cure A Stiff Neck (From My Personal Experience)

April 20, 2010

Ok… So.. I may have slept in the same awkward position for the whole night but that doesn’t mean that I wanted to!

Really hate those days when I wake up and say, “uh-oh, STIFF NECK!” and today just had to be that sort of day. I woke up and when I turned my head to one side, that excruciating pain really made me tear. It didn’t occur to me that THAT PAIN was going to be even worse when I was checking my blind spot when changing lanes. It didn’t even register in my head that it’s going to be painful, until well I turned my head to check my blind spot.

Goodness and the whole day sitting in front of the computer at my desk, couldn’t have made it worse.

Well when I just couldn’t take it, guess what, I googled for a solution and look what I found.

I immediately jumped to step 3 cos.. I didn’t think it was that bad that I needed to see a doc for it.

So I went to the Pharmacy and she recommended me Kenhancer Plaster which I applied, only to find that it wasn’t hot at all -like it didn’t help much. But i just beared with it for the whole day, until I got to the supermarket to get both Ammeltz Yoko Yoko and Salon Pas. Hahaha.. Calvin was a major darling who wanted me to buy both just in case either one was as useless as the very first one i got from the Pharmacy.

I haven’t used  Ammeltz Yoko Yoko and Salon Pas since the days of playing basketball back in high school/JC for muscle aches and joints. So I pretty much forgot how it felt to use it. Now, back to my story, I decided to use Salon Pas because it’s apparently more effective.  And let me tell you this, Salon Pas is DEFINITELY A KILLER. Within seconds (literally seconds), the heat hit right through into my skin, nerves, joints and what have you, and I immediately felt pain and relief at the same time. How ironic. But it was MAJOR SHIOK (meaning comfortable in dialect).

Goodness, it’s either the heat that made me forget about my pain or it just really is effective. (Which I’ll let you know tomorrow) haha.

So how to cure a stiff neck?

PLEASE USE SALON PAS PATCH. 😀

This is not an advertorial but really from my own experience. haha..

If you’ve got a better solution, let me know too! Just in case Salon Pas loses its effectiveness tomorrow. :p

Lastly, something totally unrelated which I found on Facebook:

75dogsforadoption

Anyone who is looking to adopt a dog soon.. do think of adopting one of the 75. I wish I can but I can’t.. cos I don’t have a proper place to rear one. So, yep, if you are a dog lover, do take note of the details if you are interested. 🙂

Don’t Sacrifice Your Health For Technology! (Part 4)

You might not know but our daily activities and our diet affects us too. Sometimes, because we are too engrossed in our work at the computer, we tend to forget about drinking water, eating our meals or perhaps end up snacking a lot more than usual!

Calvin and I are so guilty of it! We always do our work at the computer without taking breaks for our meals or for a drink. And what happens is that at the end of the day, we end up being dehydrated and thirsty and it’s not a good sign because it just means that your body is in an ’emergency’ state, in need of water.

So despite being busy at work in front of your computer, always remember to drink enough water each day. Make sure that you drink at least 8 glasses of water a day and it is always good to just place a large glass of water at your work desk so that you’ll be inclined to drink some water every 2 hours or so.

Our health is extremely important to us because it can determine how we function as well as how easily susceptible we are to diseases and illnesses. Sometimes, our health status deteriorates because of the things we do and the food we eat. Well, it is most affected by our bad habits.

Don’t Sacrifice Your Health For Technology! (Part 2)

Have you noticed that a lot of children these days, wear spectacles at an early age? Or that they require eye correction treatment?

Well, it’s probably because these kids are spending longer hours in front of the television and most importantly the computer. Computer games are addicting and often, they can spend long hours playing these games. Unknowingly, they are slowly damaging their eyes and soon develop a condition called Myopia.

The other part of our body that suffers when we use our computers for long hours is our eyes. Not many are aware of it but when you use the computer for long hours, you strain your eyes and the muscles in the area.

Now that you know that, prevention is better than cure and it’s better to protect our eyes from the unnecessary damage that can be caused by prolonged hours of using the computer.

Here are a few tips that you should make use of:

Don’t Sacrifice Your Health For Technology! (Part 1)

I’ve been spending a lot of time on the computer this holidays because I need to manage my internet business and IMOVATORS LLP’s matters as well as keeping in touch with so many people online!

While using the computer, it is inevitable for me to play music from my favourite German Radio Station, HR YOU FM, to alleviate the loneliness of staring at a screen all day and to just listen to the latest german and english tracks.

Moreover, I watch loads of videos online too. From YOUtube to those from an online program. But I realised that I may have been unknowingly damaging my ears with my ear phones high in volume when my father commented to me that he could hear the music coming out from my earphones when he’s sitting rather far away from me!

I’ve been damaging my ears! Are you doing it too? Are you playing your music so loud that others in a room can hear exactly what you are listening too? Are you playing your music for long hours while you’re on the computer or when you are out on the roads? Are you always plugged into your MP3 player?

If you are,  you better start changing your habits and picking these up!!!
