Catch me at NUS Commencement 2008!

July 8, 2008

For those who do not know, I’ll be graduating this coming Wednesday! šŸ˜€ Calvin’s graduation ceremony is tomorrow and we’re both really looking forward not only to the ceremony but to the ‘FREEDOM’ that we will have at the end of it all. It marks the completion of our educationĀ butĀ certainly, learning is a process that never ends and we’ll be pursuing to learn even more things in the coming months and years!

Sorry for not blogging for the entire month of June because of work with business as well as projects. I know I know.. I should be able to manage time well! But I guess, sometimes, blogging does not become that much of a priority now, when Calvin and I are busy running our businesses and ventures. šŸ™‚ His blog is worse off than mine! lol!!

Well, I’ll post up the pics from our graduation ceremonies to share with you our joy soon!! šŸ˜€

PC Show

My Survival Guide to PC SHOW SINGAPORE 2008!

June 14, 2008

Sorry for the lack of updates for the past week! Was kind of caught up with work and plans that I didn’t have time to blog or to tell you the truth, I was a bit lazy to blog at the end of the day when I was all tired and just looking forward to hitting that bed of mine. Anyway, the exciting news of today is that I went to the PC Show Singapore 2008! Frankly, I might sound sua gu but I’ve not been to PC Show before (not that I remember that is :P)!

PC Show Singapore was indeedĀ like a hotbed ofĀ tech gadgets that areĀ on their bestĀ sale price! It felt as though Sim Lim Square was brought into the 3 levels of the Suntec City convention centre! I could hardly breathe!Ā And mind you, I was thereĀ on a FRIDAY AFTERNOON..Ā and it was sooooo crowded already.

The first thing that came toĀ bothĀ Calvin and my minds was, “SO, PEOPLE DON’TĀ HAVEĀ TO WORK THESE DAYS?” Haha.. we actually were quite proud of ourselves being able to fork out time on a weekday to pop by to see the good deals that are available. And we were thinking, PC Show on a weekday afternoon shouldn’t be packed and crowded such that we can check out the deals slowly.. aka window shopping.

BUT!! We were sooo wrong!!!! It was sooo crowded!! And barely enough space for us to walk side by side. And I hate crowded places cos.. you never know when you’ll get that swat on your back or butt. It’s irritating.. I feel vulnerable. Thank God for my darling Calvin.. šŸ˜€

We were sooo tempted by the good deals at the PC Show which included the following:

Palm Treo (some model no.) Smart PhoneĀ going for $599 $299!

PSP + standard pack going for…. $269!!

Sharp 32″ LCD TV going for… $800++!

160 GB HDD going for…. $90!! (which we bought :P)

HP Tablet laptop going for… less than $2k!

Sony Vaio laptop going for… $1699!!

Hahaha.. and soo much more!! šŸ˜€ There’s even insurance booths there.. I wonder why… I was joking to Calvin that next year we’ll see booths selling Barbie dolls instead.. Hahaha.. LAME joke. šŸ˜›

Anyway, I’ve tips to share with you on surviving the PC Show!

My Survival Guide to the PC Show Singapore 2008:

1. A pen/marker –> to mark out the deals that you want to check out as and when you receive those flyers

2. A paper bag –> to store all the flyers that you get

3. A bottle of water –> there’s no place you can get drinks/food on the levels 3,4 and 6 of Suntec.. so just bring along a bottle just in case you to quench your thirst.

4. A pair of comfortable shoes –> Ladies, DO NOT WEAR HEELS. YOU’LL DIE IN THEM. Hahaa.. Wear your most comfortable pair of footwear.. I wore my birkenstocks!! šŸ˜€ So should u! Hahaa..

5. A foldableĀ trolley –> if you are planning to cash and carry bulky items such as printers and laptops etc, it will be good to bring along your foldable trolley that can save you the aches and the pains of having to carry down your goods from Level 6 and below. šŸ˜‰

6. A check list –> Always prepare before going down for the PC Show. Decide what you want to buy and then check them off as you move along.

7. Be early –> If you want to browse and compare prices, you have to be there early! LIKE REALLY EARLY!!! Once the crowd pours in, you’ll realise you’re stuck in a maze and will have a hard time finding the previous bargain that you saw!

8. Just spend –> Frankly, after spending the day there today, I realised that the price difference between laptop accessories etc. are between $1 to $5… For laptops, TV, huge electronics, it really depends on the specs. JUST SPEND WHEN YOU SEE SOMETHING THAT SUITS YOUR NEEDS. And don’t waste time comparing prices etc. because it’s not worth it. Your time is worth more than running up and down between different booths just to compare the pricing. Always remember you are buying to satisfy a NEED, so any amount that buys that NEED is justified because well, YOU NEED IT!

9. Keep your children at home –> Children are distracting to yourself and to other visitors to PC Show… cos.. they are running around, screaming, trying to get themselves lost by running far from their parents and I just don’t see how you can concentrate on searching for tech stuff while carrying your child in your hands. BE FOCUSED. Your children will only become your distraction.

10. Bring cash but not too much cash –> Well, if you are paying by nets or credit card, there’s an additional 2% of the price that you have to pay for the transaction. I don’t know if it’s the case for ALL booths but it was for mine. If you want to save that 2%, well, bring cash to pay for your goods!

That’s about it! If you’ve not headed down to the PC Show Singapore 2008, what are you waiting for? Gosh.. Saturday and Sunday’s going to be fully packeD!!! Be there early and enjoy!!

Shut Down Day

What are You Going To Do on ShutDown Day?

April 18, 2008

It’s going to be ShutDown Day again soon!! šŸ˜€ Are you participating in it this year? If you are wondering what is ShutDown Day, well it’s a day where you do not switch on your computer for 24 hours! ShutDown Day was actually founded last year! The idea of Shutdown Day project is simple – just shutdown your computer for one whole day of the year and involve yourself in some other activities: outdoors, nature, sports, fun stuff with friends and family – whatever, just to remind yourself that there still exists a world outside your monitor screen.

I sure didn’t know that ShutDown Day was only initiated last year but it has a “sole purpose of spreading awareness about the pitfalls and dangers that lie in the excessive use of television, computers, and computing equipment like game boxes, cell phones, music players, online social websites, etc. that impinge on social space and interaction amongst our communities”.

In fact, it is meant to get people to think about how their lives have changed with the increasing use of the home computer, and whether or not any good things are being lost because of this.

ShutDown Day

I have personally seen how my life has changed because of the increasing use of the computer, now that I’m involved in Internet Marketing as well as freelance online projects. It has becomeĀ such a great part ofĀ my life thatĀ other activities such asĀ exercising and goingĀ out for walks have gradually takenĀ lower priority.Ā The computer is meant to be a tool for us to actually use to make life betterĀ but notĀ a tool that overtakesĀ our lives.

So now that you know about ShutDown Day, what are you going to do about it?

Last year, Calvin could not spend 24hours away from the computer on ShutDown Day while I managed fine. I think we’ll just have to see about it this year..

But here are a couple of things that I’m going to do on ShutDown Day:

1. Study for my exams coz I have a paper on the 5th

2. Listen to the Radio

3. Cook a good dinner for myself and my loved ones

4. Go swimming/jogging

Haha.. sounds boring right? Well, if you have a better idea of how to commemorate ShutDown Day, let me know! šŸ˜€

Happy New Year 2008!

January 1, 2008

2007 has flown past really quickly. So quickly that I haven’t been updating my blog for the last 2 months of the year. lolz!

Things have been pretty much the same for me for the last 2 months because I was just plain busy with school work, my studies and also the exams. Moreover, I was occasionally helping Calvin and his partner in allĀ their product launches that I just got too distracted to concentrate on my own efforts at this blog and the others.

Kanggie has been growing for the past few months even though our team has been neglecting it while we were busy preparing for the exams.

Now that 2007 is officially over, there should be a period of thanksgiving:

I thank God for the following things,

– good exam results

– love from family and friends

– success in our work and plans

– blessing us in little ways

– winning the competition

– getting to know amazing peopleĀ who have helped us in more ways than one

–Ā teaching usĀ to place greater faith in Him

– letting us grow together as one

– and soo much more…

The year 2007 closed on a high note with me, watching fireworks exploding in the sky.

The fireworks seem to signify the new energy that exploded within me like never before. I seem to have been given a new start, a new beginning and just ready to change my life for the better.

Nobody said it’d be easy and nobody said there would be no distractions or a smooth sailing journey.

But I believe, that this year will be an awesome year ahead!

Wishing everyone a happy new year! šŸ˜€ God bless!

Tips For World Internet Summit Attendees!

May 31, 2007

I can’t believe it’s over! World Internet Summit is over!

Well, the 4 days of the World Internet Summit have certainly been worthwhile and though it was rather tiring for Calvin, Munir and myself, it was a really good experience for us. We talked to people, met up with people as well as listened to people.

The preparation for the event was rather crazy because we were rushing to print hundreds of booklets publicising about IMOVATORS LLP, our new company as well as our coolest, funkiest and most exciting project! Moreover, we preparedĀ 300 namecards toĀ be given out during theĀ 4 day event! And you know what, we gave out 90% of them already. Gosh.. time to startĀ printing more~!

Well, at the event, we heard speakers such as Mark Joyner, John Childers, Brett Mcfall, Tom Hua, Ewen Chia, Jay Abraham and more. It was great to hear the words coming out from the mouths of the Internet Marketing Gurus as well as get to hear real-life testimonial speeches from those who have succeeded in creating a full-time online income for themselves! So, people! Making Money Online is certainly possible and even I have made a small sum for myself! And i’m certainly going to push myself even further to achieve even greater results and be financially free! You can read more on Internet Marketing and to get an idea of what it is and its importance here.

My favourite speaker at the World Internet Summit was definitely Mark Joyner because of his interesting presentation as well as the content he provided. It was engaging and I must say that his point of being a Freedom Agent is so important and we must work toward being financially free in order to free ourselves and others from the burdens that the lack of money brings.

Ewen Chia’s presentation to me, was the most convincing and amazing. He did a live check of his sales which literally blew me away!Ā HeĀ really was making thousands a day and tenĀ thousands per month or even more! The great potential that Internet Marketing has in creating a full-time online income was right before my eyes and I am even more determined to make it my reality too! One thing i must say about Ewen is, heĀ is certainly the Internet Marketing guru who is really humble and sincere in his presentation and I have utmost respect for him.

There are some tips that I took away with me after WIS, which I believe I should share with anyone who has been to WIS or is planning to attend WIS soon:
